Ohioans Give Back
Volunteering has long been a core value in Ohio. Last year, over 3 million Ohioans volunteered which equates to more than $6.7 Billion in economic value for the state! Volunteerism and service is essential for the health of nonprofits, faith-based organizations, and communities. Volunteers make a positive difference for others, deepen their knowledge and committment to their community, and are even shown to be healthier than non-volunteers. According to the most recent data from the Volunteering and Civic Life in America Report, here is how Ohioans give back.
Highlights From the Report:
- 3,052,430 volunteers contribute 278.0 million hours of service
- 33.2% of residents volunteer, ranking them 23rd among states
- Volunteer service is worth an estimated $6.7 billion
- 99.3% of residents regularly talk or spend time with friends and family
- 57.4% of residents do favors for neighbors
- 20.8% of residents do something positive for the neighborhood
- 32.2% of residents participate in local groups or organizations
- 59.3% of residents donate $25 or more to charity
