It has been a tough year. Like organizations across the country and the world, ServeOhio made major shifts to our programming in 2020 and transitioned to a virtual office. While the challenges were great this year, it was also a year where we saw incredible resiliency, passion for service, and new opportunities. As we prepare to ring in the new year and hope for a brighter 2021, we wanted to take a minute to reflect on the good stuff from 2020.
Wednesday, November 11 marks Veterans Day 2020. ServeOhio is excited to recognize the service of our country’s military members and look ahead to the launch of a new AmeriCorps program—Serving Ohio Veterans—in partnership with the Ohio Suicide Prevention Foundation.
October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. And this month, across the state, there are several ways to engage with the community, including domestic violence education campaigns, outreach events, and memorial activities. We're also proud to partner with the Ohio Domestic Violence Network this year to launch a new AmeriCorps initiative, the Financial Freedom Corps. Learn more!
As schools start across the state, Ohio AmeriCorps members continue their work supporting Ohio’s K-12 students. Fourteen education-focused AmeriCorps programs will engage hundreds of individuals to creatively connect with students to support them academically, emotionally, and socially during the pandemic.
