AmeriCorps Members and Citizens Serve Ohio

This fall, more than 800 individuals graduated from their AmeriCorps programs.  You may have seen these members in your community wearing a big “A” on their rolled-up sleeve serving alongside community members to get things done.  These commitments included participation in National Days of Service such as Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, Global Youth Service Day and ServeOhio Day to support ServeOhio’s goal of increasing citizens in service.  The Days of Service allow individuals of all backgrounds to come together and be part of the solution around building community, providing safe spaces to live and play or increasing access to healthy food, to highlight just a few examples.

In the past year, these members garnered the support of almost 8,000 Ohioans to give nearly 50,000 hours to support local solutions. If you consider an average full-time employee provides at least 2,080 hours of work per year, that’s 24 times the people power to get things done! ServeOhio thanks the hundreds of AmeriCorps members and thousands of volunteers for making Ohio healthier, safer and stronger.
