ServeOhio is excited for a new AmeriCorps program hosted by The Ohio Department of Aging. Members will advocate for Seniors in long-term care facilities to help ensure all Seniors get the quality care they deserve.

Developing and implementing a new AmeriCorps program can be an overwhelming proposition – even for the most capable organization. Program design, member management, site relationships and evaluation are just a few of the variables that factor into the initial process. It takes time and resources to sort it all out – exactly what a planning grant provides.

As students across Ohio are preparing to go back to school, AmeriCorps members are being trained and prepared to support them. The Ohio Reading Corps and Ohio Math Corps AmeriCorps members make a difference in the lives of elementary students across the state by providing tutoring and support to students struggling in reading and math.

Shannon Stewart has lived and breathed AmeriCorps for the past 5 years. As an AmeriCorps Alum, Program Manager, and now the Program Director of the Ohio Stream Restore Corps, Shannon reflects on her service and the deep impact AmeriCorps has had on her both personally and professionally.

More than $8.3 million dollars is supporting local communities to strengthen schools and improve student learning; empower adults with new skills to increase employment opportunities and reduce barriers to economic prosperity; build healthy futures for youth, adults and families while improving ecosystems.
