2019 Ohio AmeriCorps Member Regional Events

“I loved the collaborative service projects and having the opportunity to meet other members from different corps.”

“I enjoyed the Driven Presentation and their incredible message.”

“The location, parking, and food were all great.  The day moved along pretty smoothly.”

The Ohio AmeriCorps members rallied together at three regional events during the month of March.  Each event was on a different day and at a different location, but the message was the same!  The message of the event was completing service projects together and developing personal leadership skills.

For most members they woke up early to have breakfast and network with fellow AmeriCorps members in both their Corps and other Corps members in their region.  The official kick-off to each event was with former Ohio State University Buckeyes Roy Hall and Antonio Smith from the Driven Foundation.  Over the last 10 years, the Driven Foundation has worked to establish itself as one of the most dependable outreach organizations in Central Ohio.  Their energy, personal stories, and ELITE presentation was motivational, inspirational, and helped members refocus their goals.  It was definitely a GOOD MORNING!

After an amazing lunch, all the members at each event took part in a service project where they collaborated on an activity that was designed to help members in the community.  The activities ranged from making bookmarks and decorating bookshelves for local schools to creating greeting cards for assisted living homes across the State.  And let’s not forget about the teams of members who put together school supplies kits or tackled numerous pieces of fabric to produce countless tie blankets!

The regional events were a huge success!  It was great to see each member leave the event with a renewed sense of how they were going to #bethegreatergood!  And giving them a little bit of AmeriCorps swag seemed to help their mood also!
